Installing BBC iPlayer Downloads To install the BBC iPlayer Downloads application, go to the and select the link to download. If you already have a version of the BBC iPlayer Downloads application installed, you'll need to uninstall this first or the new version will not work correctly. Mac users must install the Downloads Application in their application folder. Do this by: • Double-clicking the file after it's been downloaded • A window with a BBC iPlayer Downloads icon should appear • Drag the BBC iPlayer Downloads icon into the Applications folder (shown in the same window) • Open the Applications folder in Finder and double-click BBC iPlayer Downloads You can now start downloading programmes. Just remember that the application needs to be open before you download. Using a PC/Windows? Once you've selected the link to download and the file has downloaded, click on it and select Run to install the app. If you're using Firefox you may need to click on C hoose before selecting BBC iPlayer Downloads from the list. You can also set this in the Applications section found in Firefox settings. Confirming that downloads will be used with the app Depending on your browser, you may need to confirm that any programme you choose to download will be used with the BBC iPlayer Downloads application. This may happen during installation or when you attempt to download a programme, so be sure to tick the box to allow your browser to remember these settings. This pop-up box may be hidden behind your browser or an open app, so check this if you haven't seen such a request and you're not able to download programmes. Editor: iPlayer Downloader is a free Application for Mac OS X which lets you download programs from the BBC iPlayer website. Requirements: Mac OS X 10.5 or later and you must be in the UK otherwise the application won’t be able to download anything. While the BBC have released a similar application for Windows they have still shown no sign of releasing a version for Mac OS X and this Application is designed to fill this hole. NEW: Fixes problems introduced at the BBC’s end a few days ago. Instructions: It’s very simple to use – just download the Application below and run the Installer included in the disk image. Then navigate to your Applications folder and open iPlayer Downloader. Once open just click on a program to download it – you can set download location in the application’s preferences. The files downloaded from iPlayer Downloader will happily Play on the iPhone – just drag the.mov file created by iPlayer Downloader (it defaults to putting these on your desktop) into iTunes and set your iPhone to sync the movie file. Please bear in mind that iPlayer Downloader is in no way associated with the BBC and that there is a possibility that it may contravene BBC iPlayer’s terms of use. You may use it under your own jurisdiction as long as you are aware that the creators of this Application are in no way responsible for your actions. We have changed the Installer so all installed files are in /Applications/iPlayer Downloader.app If you are having problems upgrading, drag the Application from /Applications/iPlayer Downloader.app to the trash and then reinstall.
